1. Fluid Cleanliness Management
VIVOIL gear pumps are sensitive to fluid contamination. Recommended fluid cleanliness: ISO 4406 18/16/13 (NAS 1638 Class 9) or higher. Install a suction filter with minimum 100 μm filtration and a return line filter with 10 μm filtration.
2. Fluid Viscosity & Temperature Control
Mineral-based hydraulic oils conforming to HLP or HV standards are recommended. Operating viscosity should be maintained within 10 – 800 cSt. Optimal operating temperature: 40 – 60°C, with allowable range of -20°C to +80°C. For cold starts, ensure fluid temperature is above -10°C to prevent cavitation due to excessive viscosity.
3. Rotation Direction Verification and Reversal
Always verify the pump rotation direction indicator before start-up (X1P/X2P series standard configurations include R = right-hand/clockwise and L = left-hand/counter-clockwise options). VIVOIL gear pump rotation direction can be reversed without adding any components (except special versions) – refer to the product catalog for instructions.
4. Alignment During Installation
Ensure concentricity between pump shaft and drive motor shaft does not exceed 0.05 mm, with angular misalignment within 0.5°. Flexible couplings are recommended to compensate for minor misalignment. When installing the coupling, avoid applying axial force and never use a hammer.
5. First Start-Up and Bleeding
Before initial start-up, pre-lubricate the pump by filling clean hydraulic oil through the housing ports. After start-up, run the pump in no-load operation for a few seconds to ensure sufficient lubrication. The pump must be bled before building up system pressure. Never allow the pump to run without oil.
6. Periodic Maintenance
Replace hydraulic oil and filters every 2,000 operating hours or annually.
