Product Description

Product Overview

The Danfoss OMT/OMTS Series orbital hydraulic motors are the medium-to-heavy-duty benchmark in low-speed, high-torque (LSHT) hydraulic motor technology, featuring an inlaid-column Geroler gear set with disc valve distribution. The series spans displacements from 161.1 to 523.6 cm³/r, achieving a maximum continuous pressure drop of 200 bar, maximum continuous torque of 1,220 Nm, and maximum output power of 33.5 kW. With high starting torque, smooth operation across the full speed range, and long-life tapered roller bearings, the series is widely deployed in demanding construction, agricultural, and material handling applications.

The three core models covered herein — OMT 160 (151B3000), OMT 200 (151B3001), and OMTS 315 (151B3039) — are manufactured to Danfoss OEM specifications with 100% drop-in interchangeability. Mounting flange dimensions, shaft specifications, and port configurations correspond exactly to genuine Danfoss products, requiring no modification to piping or drivetrain interfaces. Every unit undergoes 100% simulated duty-cycle testing before shipment, verifying volumetric efficiency, torque output, and seal integrity. The OMT/OMTS Series comes standard with integrated check valves and a high-pressure shaft seal, enabling operation without a case drain line under elevated return pressure conditions.

Key Technical Advantages

1. Inlaid-Column Geroler Gear Set with Integrated Check Valve
The OMT Series employs an inlaid-column rotary stator design in which the columns roll within the stator curve rather than slide, dramatically reducing friction coefficients and enabling low starting pressure with a minimum stable speed of 10 rpm. The integrated check valve prevents reverse rotation under load, eliminating pressure surges caused by oil backflow and protecting internal components from hydraulic shock during braking and reversing conditions.

2. Tapered Roller Bearings for High Radial and Axial Load Capacity
The OMT Series is fitted with tapered roller bearings at both front and rear positions, simultaneously accommodating high radial and axial loads. The engineering significance of this configuration lies in the fact that when the motor directly drives a sprocket or gear, radial loads from the drivetrain and axial thrust act simultaneously on the output shaft. The conical raceway geometry of tapered roller bearings decomposes and distributes these combined loads uniformly across the roller contact surfaces, preventing premature fatigue failure that would occur with single-axis bearings under combined loading.

3. High-Pressure Shaft Seal with Case-Drain-Free Design
The OMT/OMTS Series features a high-pressure shaft seal that permits reliable operation under elevated return pressure while eliminating the need for an external case drain line. From an engineering perspective, this design carries significant implications for compact travel drive systems: a conventional motor requiring a drain line not only adds plumbing complexity but also introduces a potential leak point in the vibration-rich environment of travel mechanisms. The OMTS Series includes a standard G 1/4 drain port, supporting flexible piping configurations during system integration.

4. Modular Platform with Broad Brand Interchange Compatibility
The Danfoss OMT Series is built on a modular design platform, sharing interface-level compatibility with the OMS and OMV series in terms of flanges, shafts, and ports. The platform enables drop-in interchange with Eaton Char-Lynn 4000 series, Parker TG/TF series, and M+S MT series motors. The OMT 160 (151B3000) corresponds directly to the White 400300W3820AAAAA TE Series motor in flange and shaft dimensions, enabling true drop-in interchangeability.

5. Cast Iron Housing with Precision Machining
The OMT Series utilizes a high-strength cast iron housing with precision-machined critical mating surfaces. The engineering advantages of cast iron in hydraulic motors include a low coefficient of thermal expansion and excellent vibration damping, maintaining stable clearances and volumetric efficiency across a wide temperature range. Combined with the inlaid-column Geroler gear set’s high efficiency retention design, the motor sustains high operating efficiency even after extended service.

Expert Maintenance Tips

Installation Notes:

  • The OMT 160 (151B3000) and OMT 200 (151B3001) use a 4-bolt square flange with pilot 125.0 × 11.0 mm and bolt circle 160.0 mm. Verify the host machine’s flange pilot and bolt pattern match before installation, and ensure the pilot face is clean and free of debris.

  • The output shaft is a 40 mm cylindrical shaft with M12 × 1.75-6H thread at the shaft end. Apply a light coating of grease to the shaft and keyway before assembly to prevent corrosion and ensure smooth engagement. The shaft key is A12 × 8 × 70 mm (DIN 6885); verify key-to-keyway fit tolerances.

  • The OMTS 315 (151B3039) is a short version without front bearing or output shaft, designed for direct gear mounting. Ensure the gear-to-spline interface is precisely aligned to avoid eccentric mounting and additional radial loads.

  • Main ports are G 3/4 and drain port is G 1/4. Use appropriate sealing washers during installation and avoid over-torquing to prevent thread damage. For the OMTS 315, route the drain line separately to the reservoir (below oil level) and avoid sharing it with the main return line.

Operation & Maintenance:

  • Replace the hydraulic oil filter after the first 50 hours of operation and verify fluid cleanliness to ISO 4406 class 22/20/16 or better.

  • Recommended oil viscosity range is 20–75 mm²/s; maintain ambient operating temperature between -30°C and +90°C.

  • After installation, run the new motor at 30% of rated pressure or less for at least 1 hour for run-in before gradually loading to rated conditions.

  • Periodically check flange bolt torque. Re-torque every 500 hours to prevent loosening caused by vibration.

  • Intermittent duty permits a maximum of 10% per minute; peak duty permits a maximum of 1% per minute. Exceeding these limits may cause motor overheating and accelerated seal degradation.
